Renowned rapper Rajiv popularly known as Raj who has major stakes in Music Bank’s music group did just that, he turned down an opportunity to get signed by Sony Music Africa who are trying to spread their wings across east and central African music talents to add on their catalog.

After consulting with friends, family, and music creatives, Raj decided to turn down Sony Music Africa’s offer so that he could focus on building and molding Music Bank to become just like Sony Music Africa one day.

“That’s not all. In Oct, Sony Music Africa contacted us to sign me. I won’t reveal the price but I consulted; friends, family, music creatives, close media associates etc & I turned them down to focus on making MB the next Sony Music of Africa. Please support me and lets freakin do it..”

The rapper seems pleased with what he did and continued doing music with a lot of music already on the pipeline in January alone.

“Hello Rajiv, We got your profile earlier and have been trying to find out more baseline score points before official engagement. our S&A(Scouting & Acquisition) department are interested in your sound and would like to find out more.

Could you please link us to your company website where we can get more information on your music label? The link you provided seems to be off.” the official letter Raj received from Sony Music Africa read in part.

“S/N: We are embarking on a scouting mission and possible acquisitions in the Eastern & Central Africa region, which will be officially launched later this week. You are in a good position to be involved in the same.” the letter read on.

Raj went on ahead to share the screenshot of the email Sony Music Africa sent him to prove that he wasn’t just talking but telling the truth.
