European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) has encouraged the Electoral Commission to ‘publish without delay the detailed results from each polling station for the presidential and parliamentary elections online, including scanned copies of the Declaration of Results Forms’.

The mission says this ‘would enable voters, as well as the candidates, to comprehensively evaluate the election results’.

In their preliminary report, EU observers concluded that the electorate had no trust in the Electoral Commission (EC).

“The Electoral Commission’s accountability is very important in the post-electoral environment,’ stressed the EU EOM Chief Observer, Mr Eduard Kukan.

The EU Electoral Observation Mission to Uganda was established on Dec 28, 2015 at the invitation of the Ugandan government. A total 137 observers were deployed in the country.

The mission is set to release a detailed report on the elections won by incumbent Yoweri Museveni later this year.
