President Uhuru Kenyatta has held a press conference to address the IEBC stalemate. He has said that dialogue should be held within the provision of the constitution.
In the statement President Uhuru Kenyatta says,’We all must agree as people of this nation that there are things we must abide to… Including CORD.’
Mr. Kenyatta further says that going to the streets can’t solve issues adding that dialogue within Constitution will be welcomed by the government.
How will the review on IEBC be carried out?
A joint committee of the senate and the National Assembly will be created to look into this matter- The president will meet Jubilee legislators tomorrow to have further discussion on the matter. He hopes that CORD will also support this framework. “My obligation to protect and defend the constitution is not an option,” the President says.
The process will also involve public participation, members of public will submit their views to the committee,because every person has an obligation to defend and uphold the Constitution, it is a civic duty.
Will CORD accept this plan?
