Ill-fated chopper that crashed into Lake Nakuru located together with bodies of the three remaining victims (Photos)

Divers have finally found the wreckage of the chopper that crashed into Lake Nakuru on three weeks ago. The ill-fated helicopter crashed into the lake a few minutes after taking off from Jarika Hotel on October 21st.

Five people were aboard the chopper at the time of the crash. The five were Apollo Malowa (pilot), Veronicah Muthoni, Sam Gitau, John Mapozi and Anthony Kipyegon.

Apollo Malowo and Anthony Kipyegon’s bodies were recovered after two days of searching. The remaining three victims would stay under the lake for three weeks until November 17th when divers traced the wreckage.

Kenya navy divers and divers from Sonko Rescue Team discovered the wreckage location on Friday November 17th. The Nairobi governor announced the good news on social media.

“Sonko Rescue Team Divers among others has finally recovered a chopper that crashed in Lake Nakuru with 5 people on board they have been joined by the Navy divers to make sure the chopper has been removed from the lake,” wrote Mike Sonko.
